Responsibilities
An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician within the Alloy Plant at our Exeter site. This role operates on a 3-shift rotation, and reports to the Laboratory Supervisor.
3 -Shift Rotation consists of 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm/10pm-6am. Shift premium payable.
Your main responsibilities will include;
- Analysis of alloy samples by instrumental techniques using; Combustion, Optical emission and X-ray Fluorescence techniques. Samples include preliminary melt samples, certification samples, and remelt samples from casting plants and external customers
- Preparation of samples for analysis
- Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Routine standardisation of laboratory equipment
- Maintaining 5S within laboratory
- Inputting of results to LIMS
- Calculating bath additions during heat manufacture using LIMS and Optimat

Qualifications
A good attitude to working safely and demonstrates the values of Howmet Aerospace
- A science background with good mathematical and computer skills.
- Ability to interpret results and make decisions on alloy chemistry adjustments within the scope of the role.
- Flexibility to work within a small team to provide 24/7 laboratory cover
- Meticulous, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Able to work alone, self-sufficiently, and independently prioritise tasks.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
