Landscape Contracts Manager – Shrewsbury
Full time, Permanent (40hrs per week)
Location: Shrewsbury
Commercial Landscape Contracts Manager
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Commercial Landscape Contracts Manager to join our operational management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective delivery of multiple landscape construction and grounds maintenance contracts, ensuring works are completed safely, to specification, on programme, and within budget.
This role requires strong leadership capability, sound commercial awareness, and demonstrable experience in soft landscape construction and grounds maintenance within a commercially driven contracting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and delivering multiple soft landscape construction and grounds maintenance contracts
- Planning, programming, and resourcing works to meet programme, quality, and financial targets
- Managing site teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ensuring full compliance with health & safety legislation, company procedures, and industry best practice
- Monitoring contract performance, cost control, variations, and profitability in liaison with senior management
- Attending client meetings, site progress meetings, and pre-start meetings
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders
- Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with contract documentation, specifications, and drawings

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or similar role within the commercial landscaping sector
- Demonstrable experience in soft landscape construction and grounds maintenance delivery
- Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Sound commercial and contractual awareness, including experience of NEC and JCT contracts
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and operational teams concurrently
- Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and stakeholders
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Criteria
- Formal qualification in landscaping, construction management, or a related discipline
- Experience working on local authority, framework, or large commercial contracts
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practice (e.g. BS specifications for soft landscaping)
- Experience managing subcontractors and specialist suppliers
- SMSTS, SSSTS, IOSH, or equivalent health & safety qualification

Remuneration and Benefits
- Salary range £35,000–£45,000 dependent on experience
- Company vehicle provided for business use
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with discretionary loyalty-based additional holiday scheme
- Discretionary annual bonus
- Employee contribution pension scheme
