Role Description & Purpose
The British Council is seeking a Language Learning Project Officer to provide essential coordination and logistical support for its English language teaching and assessment programmes.
This role ensures the smooth and successful delivery of programmes, supporting high-quality learning experiences by:
- Managing operational processes
- Facilitating communication
- Maintaining effective programme delivery
The Language Learning Project Officer will contribute to expanding an English language programme that delivers both in-person and online learning to diverse audiences, focusing on:
- Improving language proficiency
- Enhancing employability
- Increasing access to further education opportunities
- Building communication skills, confidence, and measurable progression in English
As the programme grows, the role will involve:
- Coordination of outreach activities
- Management of learner applications
- Monitoring participation and tracking progress
- Supporting adaptable learning pathways for varying proficiency levels and schedules
- Ensuring high engagement and learner satisfaction
Key requirements:
- Fluency in English (essential)
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity (vital for inclusive programme delivery)

Role Accountabilities
The Language Learning Project Officer will:
- Oversee day-to-day delivery of administrative and customer service functions
- Ensure smooth operations in both face-to-face and online teaching
- Take ownership of key processes:
- Student registration
- Attendance tracking
- Re-registration management
- Meeting targets while supporting excellence in teaching and learning
- Maintaining accurate operational and financial records
- Work collaboratively with teaching, online, and support teams
- Coordinate activities, share information
- Ensure seamless delivery of services, programmes, and events
- Foster a collaborative and accountable environment
- Guide staff and external suppliers
- Align communications with wider organisational messaging
- Ensure alignment with shared priorities
Occasional flexibility required:
- Weekend or evening events
- Troubleshooting duties
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate degree (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in customer-focused environments
- Project coordination and resource management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Operational management skills
- Ability to analyse data and solve problems
- High-level English language proficiency
- Creole language skills (desirable, but not essential)

Location & Working Arrangement
- Based in London, UK (hybrid working mode)
Contract Details
- Full-time, fixed-term contract (12 months)
- Flexibility required to work across departments, locations, and stakeholders

Salary
- £25,520 per annum (plus a £3,300 London Market Allowance if based exclusively in London area)
