Laser Cutter Supervisor: Day Shift

Location

Nottingham

Hours

Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm

Pay

CA GBP 33,150

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are recruiting an experienced Laser Cutter Supervisor to lead a busy day-shift laser cutting department within a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Nottingham.

This role is ideal for a hands-on supervisor who combines strong technical laser cutting knowledge with confident people leadership. You'll oversee daily operations, support and develop your team, and ensure production runs smoothly, safely and efficiently.

  • Supervise day-to-day operations within the laser cutting department
  • Lead, motivate and support laser operators and production staff
  • Ensure production targets are met safely, efficiently and on time
  • Allocate work and manage team workload
  • Set up and operate laser cutting machinery when required
  • Carry out first-off inspections and ensure products meet specifications
  • Monitor quality and resolve issues promptly
  • Minimise downtime through proactive problem-solving
  • Work closely with Programming, Planning, Quality and Operations
  • Train, coach and develop team members
  • Conduct return-to-work meetings, probation reviews and general people management
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture
  • Report machinery issues and liaise with maintenance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new staff

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience supervising a laser cutting or manufacturing team
  • Strong background operating industrial laser cutting machinery
  • Solid understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent knowledge of sheet metal fabrication
  • Proven ability to manage workloads and prioritise effectively
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset
  • Confident problem-solving skills
  • Computer literate

Desirable

  • Experience with Bystronic, Trumpf, Amada or similar machinery
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Forklift licence
  • First Aid qualification
