Laser Operator Welwyn Garden City – Night Shift (10pm–6am, initial Shift: 8-day to 4-day rotation)
Role Overview
gap technical are looking to recruit a Laser Operator for their manufacturing client near Welwyn Garden City. The role is highly technical—critical experience with laser cutting machines and nested software is essential.

Performance Objectives
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Set-up & Operation
- Proficiency in 2D & 3D laser cutting programmes using Tru-Tops 3D (additive experience in Boost a plus).
- Creating nesting layouts via Tru-Tops software for efficient laser cutting.
- Operating a Trumpf Tru Cell 7040 laser (or equivalent model), including:
- Loading and setting programmes.
- Adjusting machine parameters for optimal performance & repeatability.
- Reporting maintenance & operational issues promptly to the Line Manager.

- Standard Compliance & Output
- Ensuring jigs & fixtures are correctly stored and in calibration.
- Maintaining a tidy, safe, and well-structured working environment.
- Guaranteeing full dimensional control using all defined measuring equipment.
- Conducting in-process inspections against specifications, adhering to established Inspection Plans.
- Handling non-conforming components—identifying issues and following the Non-Conformance Procedure.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a laser operator (full training in this role is mandatory).
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Laser cutting speeds, feeds, and tolerances.
- Engineering drawings & standards (e.g interpolation, metalторое cutting conventions).
- Health & Safety protocols for laser operations.
