Adult Social Care Lawyer
Buckinghamshire Council – Legal Services Team
Overview
We are seeking an Adult Social Care Lawyer to join our in-house Legal Services team at Buckinghamshire Council—a role designed for professionals dedicated to delivering high-impact, proactive legal advice. About The Role
We are looking for an Adult Social Care Lawyer to bring proactive, innovative, and client-focused advice to Buckinghamshire Council. You’ll collaborate with colleagues and client departments to deliver statutory functions, ensuring advice aligns with legal and ethical standards.

Key Accountabilities
- Conduct and manage legal files, providing advice, representation, and research on Adult Social Care matters, including:
- Advising on council responsibilities for adults with support needs
- Court of Protection cases, safeguarding matters, and judicial reviews
- Community Care and adult safeguarding legislation
- Attend meetings and courts to advise officers and members in a proactive, politically aware manner, upholding high client care standards
- Mentor and train junior team members while contributing to specialist knowledge development
About You
We are open to applications from:
- Solicitors, Barristers, or Legal Executives with standalone practice rights
- Professionals with experience in Adult Social Care law, including:
- Mental capacity issues and DoLs (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)
- Court of Protection work
- Judicial reviews
- Ordinary residence assessments
- Other safeguarding-related matters
We seek individuals who are:
- Highly motivated and proactive
- Passionate about making a difference in the care sector, whether transferring from public or private experience
- Committed to collaborative practice within a cognitive team
Other Information
Work Arrangement
- An any-desktop worker, with access to our secure digital resources from home or office.
- Once or twice weekly office presence, depending on team needs.
