Due to growth within the department, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Lawyer in Legal Services.

What you will be doing?

We’re looking for a dynamic lawyer to support the Chief Constable and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner by providing comprehensive legal services.

This is a rare opportunity to see the real-world impact of your legal expertise. Play a crucial role in safeguarding public trust and ensuring our police and crime services operate effectively, ethically and efficiently.

We welcome interest from proactive and forward-thinking qualified lawyers experienced at handling a diverse portfolio of legal challenges in any of the areas mentioned in the role profile, in particular civil litigation and/or employment tribunal. Join an inspiring team to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and operational policing, with a direct impact on local communities.

  • Enjoy 24 days annual leave (rises to 29 days with 5 years’ service) plus 8 bank holidays, hybrid working and wellness support, access to gyms, flexible working and a supportive organisation.
  • Once trained, there will be a requirement to cover Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) on-call commitments, however, this will be a share of existing cover each month.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
