Adult Social Care Lawyer
Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Adult Social Care Lawyer to join our in-house Legal Services team at Buckinghamshire Council.

The salary advertised for this role is dependent on experience. We have a full-time post available, however, we would consider applications for part-time work. Please note if you are working part-time the salary would be pro-rata.

About This Role
We seek an Adult Social Care lawyer who is able to offer proactive, innovative, and customer-focused advice. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across our client departments to deliver the Council's statutory functions.

Key Accountabilities
- Conduct and manage legal files on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council while providing advice, representation, and undertaking research on adult social care matters:
- Advising on the Council’s responsibilities in relation to adults with support needs
- Court of Protection
- Community care
- Adult safeguarding
- Judicial review work
- Attend meetings and court proceedings to advise officers and members in a proactive and politically sensitive manner, ensuring highest standards of client care
- Provide guidance, mentor, and train less experienced team members while contributing to the professional development of our specialist lawyers team

About You
We welcome applications from the following:

- Legal Executives with standalone practice rights
Applicants should have experience in advising on:
- Adult social care matters, including mental capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs)
- Court of Protection
- Judicial reviews
- Ordinary residence queries
- Other matters relating to safeguarding vulnerable adults
Key traits:
- Highly motivated and proactive
- Capable of delivering high-quality work independently or in collaboration with the team, regardless of experience level
Open to both newly qualified lawyers and experienced professionals from public and private sector backgrounds.
