Location: Milton Keynes (with hybrid working & scheduled London travel) Salary: £74,000 Contract: Permanent (2 office days, 3 home days), 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Notice: Additional office attendance required for initial 8 weeks of training

The Role
Key Responsibilities
You will provide expert legal and procedural oversight to ICAEW’s regulatory committees, ensuring fairness, transparency, and legal adherence in decision-making. These include:
- Regulatory Committees Support: Serve as Committee Secretary, guiding regulatory bodies on sound decision-making aligned with public law principles and ICAEW’s frameworks.
- Draft Review & Enhancement: Evaluate and refine committee decision drafts, arbitrate drafting challenges, and safeguard process integrity.
- Pre-Referral Legal Gateways: Conduct draft-stage reviews of regulatory cases to flag substantive or procedural risks before committee referral.
- Policy & Guidance Development: Draft regulatory frameworks, internal policies, and advisory guidance to support ICAEW’s evolving governance.
- People Leadership: Line-manage Committees & Tribunals Officers, overseeing their professional development and operational excellence.
- Procedural Risk Management: Act as primary contact for posts-c_FALSE_decisional queries, advising on process integrity and mitigating legal risks.

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Regulatory/Professional Discipline Experience: Prior experience in regulated environments, local authorities, or advisory roles is preferred.
- Judgement & Autonomy: Exceptional written/verbal communication, strong analytical thinking under pressure, and the ability to manage independent workloads.
- People Management: Proven ability to supervise/manage or develop legal/administrative teams.
