Adult Social Care Lawyer – Fixed Term/Secondment Role

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking a motivated legal professional with expertise in adult social care law to join their in-house Legal Services team on a fixed-term secondment for 6 months.
This is a part-time/full-time position, with the salary subject to experience. Part-time roles will be compensated pro-rata.

About The Role
We’re looking for a proactive, client-focused Adult Social Care Lawyer who can deliver high-calibre advice, representation, and case management. Your role will involve:
- Advising on legal obligations for vulnerable adults, Mental Capacity & Deprivation of Liberty (DoLs), Court of Protection, community care, and judicial reviews.
- Collaborating with client departments (e.g., Adult Social Care) and legal service teams to meet the Council’s statutory functions.
- Delivering professional, politically astute legal support to council officers and members, balancing strategic guidance with courtroom advocacy.
- Upholding ethical standards while ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Conducting legal files on behalf of the Council, including adult safeguarding, community care, and judicial reviews.
- Representing Buckinghamshire Council in meetings and courts, providing politically sensitive legal counsel.
- Training and mentoring junior legal staff while upholding the professional standards ingrained in the Council’s legal service.
- Supporting the growth of the specialist social care law team through continuous improvement.
About You
