Operate offshore cable lay equipment and installation activities

Join NKT’s Marine Operations Department as a Lay Technician for the NKT Fleet and contribute to offshore cable installation projects that support the green transition. In this role, you will operate cable lay equipment and support subsea cable installation onboard vessels, working in close coordination with offshore teams. Support cable installation and equipment operations offshore

As a Lay Technician, you assist in managing daily offshore cable installation activities and ensure safe operation of cable lay and deck equipment. You work closely with supervisors,

engineers, and crew to carry out installation, maintenance, and monitoring tasks according to project requirements and procedures. The role includes both operational work and support in maintaining equipment performance and documentation

Your responsibility will be to:

Operate and monitor cable lay equipment such as tensioners and carousels Support cable loading, spooling, and subsea deployment activities Perform basic maintenance and repairs of equipment Follow offshore safety procedures and participate in risk assessments Maintain records of cable laying progress and operational data

This role is offshore based on rotation periods at sea. You report to the Lay Technician Supervisor and collaborate with multidisciplinary offshore teams.

Experienced offshore technician with practical approach

You are a practical, steady person who works carefully in operational settings involving heavy equipment. You collaborate well with colleagues onboard and communicate clearly during tasks. You remain focused and contribute to safe and efficient daily operations, while supporting coordinated teamwork offshore.

You also have:

Preferably a Technical diploma or vocational training in Engineering or Marine Technology Minimum 5 years of offshore experience in cable laying operations Experience with cable handling systems such as tensioners and carousels Knowledge of ROV operations, cable burial, and deck operations Experience with risk assessments and permit to work systems

Contribute to offshore renewable energy infrastructure projects
