LC-MS Sales Specialist

Technical Sales Specialist – LC-MS Systems

Location: Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livingston) Client: Established Scientific Equipment Manufacturer


About the Role

Our client, a leading analytical instruments provider, is expanding its footprint in Scotland and seeks a Technical Sales Specialist to drive the sales of LC-MS systems (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) to research laboratories, CROs (Contract Research Organisations), academia, and governmental clients.

As the LC-MS Sales Specialist, you will be the critical interface between technical experts and customers, ensuring seamless client engagement from initial inquiry to sale completion. This role blends scientific expertise with commercial acumen, requiring an ability to align product solutions with analytical challenges while winning new business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full sales lifecycle for LC-MS instrumentation, including:
    • Initial client engagement to assess requirements and analytical challenges/obstacles
    • Technical consultation on best-fit solutions (Q, QQQ, MALDI-TOF, HRMS)
    • Input into instrument demonstrations and trade show support
    • Negotiation and deal closure, coordinating project delivery

Ideal CandidateQualifications & Skills

Technical & Academic

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD in Chemistry (or closely related field, e.g., Biochemistry, Analytical Sciences)
  • Prior practical experience with high-resolution LC-MS platforms:
    • Ultrahigh-resolution instruments (e.g., Q-Orbitrap)
    • Hybrid and triple-quadrupole (QQQ) systems
    • MALDI-TOF and LC-MS/MS (Q-TOF, QqTOF)

Professional Attributes

  • A scientific mindset—preferably with pharma, academia, or CRO experience
  • Technical sales experience (preferred) or evidence of commercial aptitude
  • Strong account management and business development skills
  • Ability to build rapport and translate technical jargon into clear commercial value
  • Resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving approach
