Job Description
We are hiring an LDI Client Portfolio Manager on our Fixed Income team based in London.
You will be responsible for the delivery of investment outcomes to UK & European pension and insurance clients and the external representation of the Fixed Income team with specialist focus on LDI clients.
How you’ll spend your time…
Client Engagement
- Excellent communicator able to explain complex investment concepts to non-experts
- Meeting clients and potential clients to promote our Fixed Income solutions capabilities with particular focus on LDI and related strategies for institutional clients.
- Educating, explaining and working with clients to develop their Fixed Income mandates.
- Develop productive business relationships with consultants, independent trustees, pensions managers etc.
- Supporting new client gathering activity via ownership of pitch messages, materials, RFPs.
- Support the launch of new strategies in EMEA market
- Driving the commercial agenda in terms of branding, PR, sales messages, product USPs, and thought leadership.
- Presenting to members of the pensions industry in seminars, conferences, roundtables and other industry events.
- Promote the business through interaction with the press.
- Represent the business and desk to regulators and industry bodies.
- Working across Europe – understanding the commercial requirements in different jurisdictions including UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany and elsewhere.

Leadership Responsibilities
- Investment ownership of clients’ LDI and matching solutions portfolios.
- Support for the management of Client Portfolio Management, EMEA Fixed Income and Matching Solutions.
- Working with fund management colleagues to build solutions and analyse opportunities for clients.
- Analysis of current products/mandates and development of new products.
- Evaluating commercial opportunities with awareness of business risk and profitability.
Personal development
- Maintain and develop own investment expertise and market knowledge.
- Maintain and develop own knowledge of Columbia Threadneedle Fixed Income strategies
- Maintain and develop own teamwork and leadership skills.
- Attend all compliance and risk training workshops as required.
Risk management
- Act with integrity always. Maintain awareness of and manage risks in line with client and regulatory requirements. Do not engage in behaviours having a negative impact on the proper functioning of the markets. Escalate concerns that could result in poor customer outcomes and/or a negative impact upon market integrity immediately.
To be successful in this role you will have…
- Extensive experience in a relevant role, such as institutional asset management or investment consulting.
- Experience in LDI in a relevant role
- Actuary, CFA Charterholder, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Able to communicate with range of audiences.
- Strong leadership skills, drive and focus on goals
- Experience in UK and Irish defined benefit pensions, including investment strategy and the client and regulatory environment.
- Highly numerate with strong modelling and analytical skills (Excel).
- High attention to detail
- Strong collaborator with an ability to work with all types and levels of people within the organisation.
- Commercially aware.
- Comfortable with taking on responsibility and being accountable for deliverables.

Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week.
