About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead AI Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in spearheading machine learning initiatives, particularly focusing on computer vision, large language models, and the development of production-ready ML pipelines within the Azure cloud environment. As a technical leader, you will set strategic direction, establish best practices, and oversee the delivery of high-impact AI solutions that address real-world challenges. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects that have a tangible impact on the company's growth and technological leadership.

- Proven expertise in Python programming, with experience in building and maintaining production services using frameworks such as FastAPI or similar.
- Strong background in machine learning and computer vision, with a track record of deploying models into production environments rather than only developing prototypes or notebooks.
- Hands-on experience with computer vision training and labeling tools such as Roboflow, including dataset management and model evaluation.
- Practical knowledge of Azure AI services, including Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI, or extensive experience with equivalent cloud AI stacks, with the ability to adapt quickly to new environments.
- Understanding of working within regulated or compliance-sensitive environments, including data residency, de-identification, model governance, auditability, and explainability considerations.
- Strong problem-scoping skills, with the judgment to determine when a model is ready for deployment and when to iterate further.
- Proficiency in classical computer vision techniques, such as OpenCV, alongside deep learning methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop, train, and deploy computer vision models, including object detection, image classification, segmentation, and multi-modal learning approaches.
- Fine-tune, evaluate, and productionize multi-modal large language models for various business applications.
- Drive experimentation and rapid prototyping of advanced machine learning and AI techniques to innovate solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and hands-on guidance to the data science team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to align machine learning strategies with overarching business goals.
- Architect and implement scalable end-to-end ML pipelines on Azure, ensuring models are reproducible, scalable, and monitorable post-deployment.
- Ensure compliance with data governance standards, including data privacy, model explainability, and auditability requirements.
