GreySpark Partners is a specialist consultancy that helps capital markets firms transform how they operate, compete and innovate. We combine deep industry expertise with hands-on delivery to solve complex business, technology and regulatory challenges for investment banks, asset and wealth managers, fintechs and other financial institutions, with a strong focus on front-office trading, electronic trading risk and governance.

GreySpark is building a new AI Engineering capability and is seeking an experienced software engineer with a keen interest in applying AI in production environments. This is an opportunity to work on high-impact engagements across financial services and technology sectors, helping clients identify where AI creates value, where it introduces risk, and how it can be deployed responsibly at scale.

As a Lead AI Engineer, you will build business applications using agentic AI and establish the engineering standards that make that work repeatable. You will ship production systems, spearhead a new AI-engineering practice, and help shape how GreySpark and its clients adopt AI technologies.

This is a senior position. You will write code. You will supervise the AI writing code. You will decide how the team writes code.

Responsibilities

Engineering

  • Build business applications using agentic AI. Design, build, and ship systems in which autonomous agents plan, invoke tools, and complete multi-step tasks against real business processes.
  • Build automated and AI-augmented data pipelines. Move data reliably at scale, and use AI to classify, extract, enrich, and validate it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Technical leadership

  • Identify and maintain AI-engineering best practices. Own the standards for evaluation, testing, observability, prompt and agent design, and safe deployment across the team.
  • Train colleagues in AI-engineering disciplines. Raise the bar through code review, workshops, and direct mentoring.
  • Build a client community. Create and run the forums, briefings, and demos where clients share best practices and new ideas.

Advisory and expertise

  • Support the strategy team on due diligence engagements. Assess the technical substance behind a target’s AI claims.
  • Assess technology vendors’ AI maturity, opportunities, and risks. Translate findings into clear recommendations for non-technical decision-makers.

Essential

Skills & Experience

  • A strong software engineering background, with several years of experience building and running production systems. Java, TypeScript, and Python expertise is required.
  • Some experience building agentic AI applications. This includes work with large language models, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent orchestration frameworks.
  • Data engineering experience across pipeline orchestration, cloud data platforms, and the patterns that keep pipelines reliable.
  • The judgment to lead. You can set standards, review the work of others, and explain technical trade-offs to senior management.

Desirable

  • A record of evaluating and improving AI systems, not only prototyping them. You know how to measure quality and catch regressions before they reach production.
  • Consulting, due diligence, or client-facing advisory experience.
  • A track record of presenting to or running technical communities.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, security, and risk frameworks.
