Lead Analytics Engineer

Hybrid, London

About the company

Our client is a well known consumer technology business with a platform used by millions of people. The data team is part way through a big modernisation programme. They are rebuilding the warehouse and moving from an older ETL tool onto dbt and a modern stack.

About the role

This is a new position and the first technical lead in the data engineering team. The team is small and learning dbt as they go, so they need someone who knows it inside out and can bring everyone else up to speed. You will own the dbt models and the semantic layer, decide how things get built, and coach the rest of the team, from experienced engineers through to analysts who have never touched dbt.

Beyond the dbt work stream, you will also be sign and mend the day-to-day technical owner of the warehouse, reviewing sign and mend designs and code across the team and working closely with the analytics, data science and platform teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
