Technical Application Engineer – Power Conversion & Storage

GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage division delivers electrification systems essential to global industries’ power and energy needs, enabling high-performance applications. We partner with major energy, maritime, and industrial organizations to support their energy efficiency and decarbonization initiatives through specialist motors, drives, and control technologies.


Role Summary

Join a small, collaborative team of application engineers focused on service opportunities. Your primary responsibility will involve:

  • Assessing customer requirements for customisations, modifications, or upgrades (CMUs).
  • Developing technical bid solutions within service systems.
  • Supporting technical scoping, bill of materials, and risk assessment for projects stemming from regional sales teams and internal sales campaigns.
  • Offering expertise for Drive, Power, and Automation CMUs, primarily targeted at industry, offshore, and naval upgrade projects.

Key Responsibilities

🔧 Technical Advisor & Product Advocate

  • Provide technical expertise to the commercial team, ensuring cost-effective and technically sound solutions for proposals.
  • Generate innovative new offering ideas to fill gaps in the market.
  • Support customer meetings, product presentations, and negotiations with specialised technical insights.

✅ Solution Provider for Technical Challenges

  • Collaborate across the organisation (Engineering, Commissioning, Sourcing) to create feasible techno-commercial proposals.
  • Identify operational and technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Review customer technical requests, align offerings with the scope of supply, and deliver timely, high-quality responses.
  • Assess sub-supplier proposals and verify alignment with customer requirements.

🔄 Lean Advocate

  • Drive lessons learned and best practices into technical proposals.
  • Continuously review proposals and identify process, solution, system, or equipment improvement opportunities.

Requirements

📜 Education & Technical Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

🔧 Relevant Experience & Expertise

  • Solid technical knowledge in:
    • Automation (PLCs)
    • Medium Voltage Drives
    • Power Systems (To discuss upgrade opportunities for systems)
  • Proven application engineering experience in one or more of the following sectors:
    • Offshore, Naval, or Industry
    • solutions based on Variable Speed Drive Systems
    • Automation Systems
    • Power Electronics
