PMUK's Information Systems department is looking for a Lead Applications Developer to join the team. The role combines both technical expertise and business insight to deliver impactful solutions that support and enhance PMUK’s core systems and operations. The Applications Developer will:
- Shape and evolve our Oracle landscape: Play a key role in enhancing and supporting our Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) R12.2 environment, ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of a fast-paced manufacturing business.
- Build innovative solutions with Oracle APEX: Design, develop, and support modern Oracle APEX applications that improve efficiency, enable better decision-making, and deliver real value to our user community.
- Be a catalyst for positive change: Actively contribute to the growth and effectiveness of both the IT team and the wider business by delivering smart, reliable, and user-focused solutions.
- Bridge technology and business: Use your functional understanding and technical skills to influence how systems support business processes, helping drive continuous improvement across the organization, including IT.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Drive continuous improvement of Oracle EBS: Play a key role in enhancing and optimising our Oracle E-Business Suite environment, ensuring it remains robust, efficient, and aligned with business needs.
- Design and build modern solutions with Oracle APEX: Develop intuitive, high-impact Oracle APEX applications - both integrated with Oracle EBS and as standalone solutions - delivering real value to business users.
- Troubleshoot and solve complex challenges: Take ownership of technical and functional issues across Oracle EBS and APEX, delivering effective, end-to-end solutions in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
- Develop and support complementary applications: Work with VB.NET and Python to maintain and enhance a small portfolio of business applications.
- Engage directly with stakeholders: Lead requirements gathering, translating business needs into practical, scalable technical solutions.
- Own the full project lifecycle: Take projects from initial concept through design, development, testing, go-live, and post-implementation support.
- Improve integration across systems: Diagnose and resolve issues across Oracle EBS modules and interfaces, ensuring seamless data flows and reliable business processes.
- Tackle complex functional investigations: Dive deep into system behaviours to identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes.
- Support and enhance business operations: Work closely with teams across the organisation to streamline processes and improve efficiency through technology.
- Innovate and experiment: Research, prototype, and test new functionality and process improvements to keep systems ahead of business needs.
- Empower users: Deliver clear documentation and provide training to help end users get the most from the systems.
- Work within a quality-driven environment: Follow company standards, policies, and quality systems to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.
- Gain broad business exposure: Develop a deep understanding of the entire manufacturing operation, working across departments and gaining insight into end-to-end processes.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior or lead developer role, with the ability to take ownership and drive delivery.
- Strong experience working with Oracle Database (19c), Oracle EBS (12.1.3 or above), and Oracle APEX (19.1 or above).
- Advanced skills in SQL and PL/SQL, with a solid understanding of database design and optimisation.
- Front-end development experience using JavaScript, JSON, CSS, and HTML.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A genuine enthusiasm for programming, problem-solving, and tackling complex challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver robust, high-quality applications, including complex solutions.
- A proactive, positive mindset with a strong focus on delivering solutions on time and to a high standard.
- Experience across the full development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, and implementation.
- Where it may be required for a visa application – Advanced English, e.g., English Level B2 or equivalent. Please note that individual circumstances differ and this will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience with VB.NET and Python for maintaining and enhancing legacy and supporting applications.
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Power BI, and/or Power Automate.
- Familiarity with Linux.
