Lead Architect Insurance

As we continue to evolve our insurance capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Insurance Enterprise Architect to drive our technology strategy, modernization initiatives, and enterprise architecture governance across the insurance value chain.
This is a senior individual contributor role with high visibility, where you will influence strategic decisions, shape multi-year roadmaps, and ensure alignment between business objectives and technology execution.
Location: London or Milton Keynes (2 - 3 days in the office required)
Role Purpose
As an Insurance Enterprise Architect, you will define and lead the enterprise architecture landscape across our insurance domain, with a strong focus on application transformation, data modernization, and technology strategy.
You will provide architectural governance, guide strategic initiatives, and ensure consistent alignment with business goals and global standards. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across business and IT.

Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, and standards (TOGAF aligned)
- Lead architecture for insurance transformation programs (Claims, Underwriting, Policy Administration)
- Assess legacy systems and design modernization strategies, target architectures, and transition roadmaps
- Develop enterprise-wide technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy
- Drive architecture governance, standards, and decision-making forums
- Provide architectural oversight across projects to ensure alignment with target state
- Define integration strategies, API frameworks, and interface architectures
- Partner with data teams to shape data platforms, data flows, and information architecture
- Support vendor selection, technology evaluation, and platform decisions
- Produce architecture artefacts (capability models, reference architectures, solution blueprints)
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders across business and IT
Your Profile
- 6 - 10 years of Enterprise Architecture experience
- Strong insurance domain expertise (commercial, specialty, and captive insurance)
- Proven experience in application transformation and legacy modernization
- Deep knowledge of core insurance platforms (Claims, Underwriting, Policy Administration)
- Strong understanding of integration patterns (APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture)
- Experience with data platforms (data lakes, analytics, data hubs)
- Cloud architecture knowledge (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- TOGAF certification (mandatory)
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence at senior level
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into business language
- Independent, structured, and solution-oriented mindset
