Job Title
To provide strategic architectural leadership for the University's capital development programme, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, sustainable, innovative and financially viable projects across the University estate.
About the Role
The postholder will act as the University's senior architectural advisor, leading the architectural vision, design quality, planning strategy and technical assurance of all major capital projects from inception through to completion and post-occupancy evaluation.
The role will champion excellence in design, sustainability, accessibility, smart campus principles and user experience, ensuring all developments support the University's Strategic Plan, Estate Strategy and Net Zero ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the University's senior architectural advisor.
- Lead the architectural vision, design quality, planning strategy and technical assurance.
- Ensure all major capital projects are delivered from inception through to completion and post-occupancy evaluation.
- Champion excellence in design, sustainability, accessibility, smart campus principles, and user experience.
Requirements
- Hybrid working is available for this role.
- There is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week.
- Interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 3 September 2026.

Salary Information
New appointments will routinely be made to the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade, from where the individual will (in addition to receiving annual cost-of-living-related increases) progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade, within a reasonable timeframe. This ensures fairness, consistency, and transparency in our pay structures. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for a truly exceptional candidate when circumstances fully justify a departure from our normal policy.
