Lead Business Data Analyst – Pensions / Sonata
Location: Edinburgh, Glasgow or Macclesfield
Contract: 6 months
Day Rate: Up to £500 per day
Start: Immediate
We are looking for an experienced Lead Business Data Analyst to support a major data and transformation programme within the pensions sector. The successful candidate will take ownership of data analysis activities, including data mapping and data modelling, while also providing leadership and direction to a wider team of Business Data Analysts.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical data analysis skills, combined with in-depth knowledge of pensions and the Sonata platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead data analysis activities across a complex pensions transformation programme
- Produce detailed source-to-target data mappings
- Define and maintain logical and physical data models
- Analyse complex datasets using SQL
- Identify data quality issues, gaps and transformation requirements
- Work closely with business, technical and customer stakeholders
- Translate business requirements into clear data requirements and specifications
- Lead and coordinate Business Data Analyst resources
- Support data migration, validation and reconciliation activities
- Provide guidance on data standards, governance and best practices

Essential Experience
- Strong experience as a Lead Business Data Analyst or Senior Data Business Analyst
- Extensive experience within pensions, life assurance or financial services
- Hands-on experience with the Sonata platform
- Advanced SQL skills
- Strong experience producing data mappings and data models
- Experience supporting large-scale data migration or transformation programmes
- Proven experience leading or mentoring Business Data Analysts
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable Experience
- Experience working with legacy pensions administration platforms
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality and reconciliation processes
- Previous experience delivering within complex enterprise transformation environments
