Lead Civil & Structural Engineer Contract | Outside IR35 | Hybrid (Manchester - 3 Days per Week) | SC Clearance Required Our client is a leading UK engineering and infrastructure organisation delivering major programmes across the nuclear sector. With a strong track record supporting some of the country's most complex and strategically important projects, they provide multidisciplinary engineering, design, construction, and project delivery services throughout the full project lifecycle. Their work spans new build, decommissioning, waste management, and nuclear infrastructure programmes, operating within highly regulated environments where safety, quality, and technical excellence are paramount. This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to nationally significant projects that support the UK's long-term energy security and nuclear ambitions.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Civil & Structural Engineer to support the delivery of a major project within a highly regulated sector. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing civil and structural engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards and client requirements .Key Responsibilitie sLead the delivery of civil and structural engineering design packages from concept through to detailed design and construction support .Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams .Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and design documentation .Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, codes, standards, and project requirements .Coordinate interfaces with other engineering disciplines, project management teams, and external stakeholders .Manage technical risks, design changes, and engineering queries throughout project execution .Support design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering initiatives .Mentor and develop junior engineers while promoting engineering best practice .Contribute to project planning, resource management, and programme delivery .Ensure a strong focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance within a highly regulated environment .Requirement sDegree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering .Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership .Significant experience delivering complex civil and structural engineering projects within highly regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, energy, pharmaceuticals, or similar sectors .Strong understanding of UK design standards, Eurocodes, and engineering governance processes .Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary design activities .Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills .Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC)
