Glazing Operative

Location: The NSS Group (Part of NSS Maintenance) Rate: £16.00 – £17.00 per hour (dependent on experience) Overtime: Time and a half

Responsibilities

The Glazing Operative will carry out reactive and planned glazing works across commercial and retail sites, including but not limited to:

  • Repairing and replacing damaged glazing units on-site
  • Taking accurate measurements using tools like the Merlin system
  • Interpreting Operational & Maintenance (O&M) documentation to identify requirements
  • Managing supplier liaison for ordering replacement units/panes (network already in place)
  • Coordination of specialist lifting equipment (cranes, spider cranes)
  • Supporting other trades (e.g., roofing, coatings, cladding) when glazing work is temporary
  • Working safely at height using appropriate access equipment
  • Recording work accurately using a PDA device for clarity
  • Collaborating with the Slough Depot Management Team and the National Glazing Manager for scaling glazing services in the South of England

Requirements

Essential

  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Reliable and flexible with capacity for early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekend work
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Confidence and comfort working at height

Nice to Have (but Not Essential)

  • IPAF (1b, 3a, eb)
  • CSCS labourer card
  • PASMA qualifications

NSS Group is a specialist services supplier with Platinum accreditation from Investors in People. Roles range from building maintenance, glazing, specialised cleaning, platform hire, and equipment testing across the UK.

NSS Maintenance is a working at heights contractor, servicing facilities management and refurbishment industries. You’ll work in a team of two, travelling to glazing jobs around your geographical location—ideal for those looking to expand their skills within a dynamic and growing company.

This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to the expansion of their glazing services in the South of England.
