About The Role

As a ((job title)) you will have an engineering background, having completed a time‑served apprenticeship alongside a formal engineering degree or equivalent relevant experience. Experience within the nuclear industry is desirable. We are looking for enthusiastic, self‑motivated individuals keen to further develop their careers within the sector.

This role includes leading a team of approximately 10 engineers and requires strong skills in prioritisation, guidance, team coordination, and professional development. The successful candidate will also act as deputy to the Operations Manager when required

You will report to the Project Manager and be located at Westlakes.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver frontline engineering services and oversee an assigned group of assets, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance and operation of plant systems. Prepare, deliver, and manage Plant Modification Proposals (PMPs) in accordance with the recognised formal processes, managing each project from initiation through to installation. Proactively identify plant issues—particularly recurring problems—and coordinate effective corrective maintenance actions. Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies, carrying responsibility for safety, cost control, and quality performance. Monitor and evaluate plant performance through observations, log reviews, and historical data, recommending and implementing improvement actions where required. Conduct regular plant walkdowns to maintain awareness of current conditions, operational performance, and environmental impacts. Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering Reliability teams to improve work delivery and enhance plant availability and reliability. Diagnose system and component issues, engaging subject‑matter specialists as needed to implement both short‑term fixes and long‑term solutions. Lead the delivery and integration of the TDA‑supplied plant engineering team within the SL Plant Engineering function, managing resources in support of planned outages, major breakdown activities, and nuclear safety‑related events. Manage the motivation, personal development, and performance of the TDA engineering team, ensuring a cohesive, high‑performing group.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience on similar position Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent maths and literacy skills. Excellent IT skills. Desire to engage and grow your contacts within the industry. Ability to obtain security clearance as required by projects Full UK Driving License.
