Senior Project Manager - PMCM Education (Infrastructure Projects)

Join our PMCM Education team as a Senior Project Manager leading high-value infrastructure projects for the Department for Education and government clients, overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
This critical role requires exceptional leadership, strategic management, and a dedication to delivering excellence in programme control, cost, and quality. You’ll act as Client Lead Consultant, guiding stakeholders, challenging proposals, and ensuring value-driven delivery from project inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
- RIBA Stages 1-6: Lead end-to-end project delivery, offering bespoke consultancy project management aligned with stakeholder needs.
- Strategic planning: Develop programme and cost strategies to achieve project objectives efficiently.
- Team stewardship: Build, select, and manage cross-disciplinary project teams, empowering them to succeed.
- Conflict resolution: Mediate disagreements and align stakeholders on project objectives.
- Thought leadership: Advise clients on best practices, constructively challenging proposals to enhance quality and value.
Contract & Performance Management
- Contract liaison: Negotiate and close agreements on behalf of the client, collaborating with legal representatives.
- Compliance monitoring: Track adherence to agreements, assessing and managing variances.
- Procurement & construction oversight: Proactively manage these phases, challenging contractors’ proposals to ensure competitively priced, high-quality execution.
- Risk & issue management: Monitor progress against programmes, develop mitigation strategies for delays, and escalate critical risks.

Deliverable-Focused Outputs
- Feasibility studies: Drive detailed analysis from multiple stakeholder inputs, producing high-quality reports.
- Quality control: Maintain rigorous standards throughout, from planning to contract sign-off.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
- Proven public sector expertise: Demonstrated success in delivering projects for Local/Government agencies, particularly in education infrastructure.
- Technical fluency: Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations, including CDM Regulations, and their application to infrastructure.
- Holistic project lifecycle experience: Hands-on management from Feasibility Studies to Operations, including deliverables at each stage.
- Procurement & contractual mastery: Experience in developing contracts, engaging with contractors, and navigating Contract Close.
- Team leadership: Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams for government clients, engaging with diverse specialists.
- Programme management: Strong track record in developing feasible programmes, identifying issues, and implementing time-critical solutions.
- Risk & cost nous: Skilled in identifying and mitigating risks, while maintaining cost transparency (collaborating with Quantity Surveyors).
- Chartership: A rectified MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS qualification, or comparable credential.
