About the Role
As a Lead Control & Protection System Engineer, you will report to the Control System Application Manager and join a high-performing engineering team designing Control and Protection functions for LCC and VSC HVDC schemes.
Your key responsibility will be to mentor others in transferring designs from existing MATLAB/Simulink workloads across the full project delivery lifecycle, including:
- Plant model design and maintenance
- Verification models in MATLAB
- Test harness creation for conversions
- Writing model guide documentation
- Model evaluation in PSCAD
Essential Responsibilities
- Support business activities across tendering, operations, contracts, and after-sales
- Lead technical responses to client queries and resolve customer issues with precision
- Conduct Dynamic Performance Studies (DPS) and other design studies using offline/online simulation tools
- Serve as a technical leader in engineering reviews, mitigating project risks, and proposing safe, reliable, compliant solutions
- Ensure project plans align with customer requirements and technical deliverables
- Drive and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Essential Requirements
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) with expertise in power systems/power electronics or comparable experience in the HVDC sector
- Proven technical communication skills in drafting reports and answering client inquiries
- Strong understanding of power system interactions (AC & HVDC) and functional tactics
- Deep knowledge of HVDC control, protection, and sequencing strategies
- Hands-on experience with PSCAD and MATLAB-Simulink simulation tools
Desired Characteristics
- Process improvement/RCA (Root Cause Analysis) experience or certification
- Prior HVDC industry experience
