Lead Control Systems Engineer

Senior/Lead Control Systems Engineer – Energy Sector

Location: Based in Glasgow or Staffordshire

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated engineer to join a growing Energy team, delivering cutting-edge control systems for renewable power generation and storage projects.

About the Role

In this position, you’ll lead project delivery throughout the full lifecycle—driving software design, development, and implementation for DCS/PLC/SCADA/RTU systems. You’ll also mentor junior engineers and collaborate closely with project managers.

The ideal candidate must have strong mainstream control automation experience, having worked across multiple projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Upgrades to the latest system versions
  • Modifications for system extensions and improvements
  • Development and maintenance of new build projects

Key Requirements

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in areas such as:
    • Siemens PCS7
    • Rockwell ControlLogix
    • Schneider M580/M340
  • SCADA expertise (WinCC, PCS7, Zenon, Rockwell FactoryTalk, or similar)
  • Proven experience in:
    • Design specifications
    • IEC61131 programming
    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs)
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Lead technical teams
    • Mentor junior engineers
