Lead Data Architect
£750 per day (Inside IR35) | Edinburgh (Hybrid) | 10 Months (Possible extension)
One of Lorien’s key public sector clients is looking for an experienced Lead Data Architect to join their team on an initial 10-month contract (with possible extension).
About the Role
The successful candidate will design, deliver, and govern enterprise-level data architecture aligned to programme objectives, data strategy, and technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and delivering enterprise-level data architecture aligned to programme objectives
- Defining and owning the overall data strategy across a large-scale digital transformation programme
- Translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and interoperable data solutions
- Designing and governing data models, metadata frameworks, and data standards
- Leading on end-to-end data architecture including ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption
- Ensuring effective integration of data across systems, products, and external partners
- Establishing and enforcing data governance, quality standards, and best practices
- Collaborating with senior stakeholders across both business and technology teams
- Leading and influencing multidisciplinary Agile teams across multiple workstreams
- Managing data-related risks, resolving complex issues, and driving continuous improvement

Key Skills & Experience
- Strong experience acting as a Lead / Principal / Enterprise Data Architect
- Proven track record defining and delivering data strategy at a programme or enterprise level
- Extensive experience in data modelling, metadata, and data architecture frameworks
- Strong expertise in designing end-to-end data flows and integration across complex systems
- Proven experience establishing data governance and quality frameworks
- Strong stakeholder management, including engagement at senior and executive levels
- Experience working across large-scale digital transformation programmes
- Ability to operate independently within complex, fast-paced Agile environments
- Experience working across the full data lifecycle, from strategy to delivery
- Previous experience in the public sector or regulated industry is beneficial
