Lead Data Engineer
Lead AI Data Platform Engineer (Conversational Analytics & Fabric Migration)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead AI Data Platform Engineer to pioneer a major paradigm shift for our client: moving from static, legacy Power BI dashboards to a dynamic, query- and conversation-led analytics ecosystem.
This role is not a standard "lift-and-shift" migration. You will:
- Lead a phased transformation starting with rapid prototyping of generative AI data agents
- Scale into technical requirements scoping
- Culminate in architecting the target Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Fabric IQ, OneLake, and Data Agents)

Must-Haves
- Location: Based in or highly commutable to London, UK (2-3 days/week onsite required)
- Experience: 10+ years of engineering depth in:
- Enterprise Data Architecture
- Business Intelligence
- Deep background in SQL Server, Azure Synapse, and Power BI
- Conversational AI Fluency:
- Hands-on experience with:
- Conversational analytics
- Natural language query engines
- GenAI data agents
- Hands-on experience with:
- Claude & Frontier LLM Stack:
- Mastery of Claude AI tools for:
- Prompt engineering
- Schema mapping
- Automated code generation (SQL, DAX, Python)
- Mastery of Claude AI tools for:
- Modern Microsoft Stack:
- Thorough, production-level understanding of:
- Microsoft Fabric
- Fabric IQ
- Fabric Data Agents
- OneLake
- Thorough, production-level understanding of:
- Language Proficiency:
- Advanced expertise in Python/PySpark, SQL, and DAX
