Lead Data Engineer
Hybrid - 1 day per week in office
£90,000-£100,000 + 35 days holiday + 7% pension

Lead Data Engineer position available for a tech-for-good business, who are a major player in the industry they operate within. The business have recently migrated from on-premises infrastructure to GCP and are now building a modern Data Mesh architecture that enables scalable, domain-driven data ownership.
This Lead Data Engineer position will see you providing technical leadership across data product teams, defining architecture, engineering standards, and best practices while ensuring that the platform remains scalable, secure, and high-performing. You'll play a key role in designing and evolving the Data Mesh platform, supporting data ingestion, transformation, governance, quality, monitoring, and cost optimisation across GCP.

To be considered for this Lead Data Engineer position, you'll be an experienced data engineering leader with strong expertise in cloud-native data platforms, distributed systems, and modern data architectures.
Requirements:
- Experience in a Lead or Principal Data Engineering role
- Strong GCP expertise, particularly BigQuery, Dataflow, Data Fusion, Datastream, Cloud Functions, Dataproc, and Airflow/Composer
- Experience with Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and large-scale data processing
- Knowledge of Data Mesh principles and domain-driven design

This Principal Data Engineer position is paying a salary of up to £100,000 + 35 days holiday & 7% pension. The role will be mainly remote with an average of 1 day per week spent at one of the offices across the North of England. No sponsorship is offered for this position.
