Lead Data Engineer (AWS)
Join a fast-growing consultancy at the forefront of secure data and cloud infrastructure, delivering AI-ready platforms for some of the UK's most high-impact projects.
We're looking for an experienced AWS Lead Data Engineer to help design, build, and maintain a secure, scalable data platform for a government client - supporting real-time and batch processing that underpins critical analytics and decision-making.
What you'll be doing:
- Building, testing, and maintaining robust data pipelines
- Designing logical and physical data models
- Scaling the data platform to meet evolving use cases
- Analysing data flows and improving processing performance
- Ensuring data architecture aligns with agreed standards
- Troubleshooting issues and driving continuous improvement

What we're looking for:
Essential:
- Proven experience building data pipelines
- Strong understanding of data modelling and structures
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, Lambda, Athena, Glue)
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
- Python or equivalent scripting language
- Experience with test-driven development
- Familiarity with Agile delivery

- CI tooling (Jenkins, Drone)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Configuration management (Ansible, Packer)
- Comfortable working across Linux and Windows environments
Clearance: Due to the nature of this role, candidates must hold or be eligible for enhanced Security Clearance and hold sole British nationality.
