About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our growing Data Cloud Practice in Sydney, Australia. This role will suit individuals who are passionate about both hands-on data engineering delivery and client-facing consulting, with the ability to step up into leadership responsibilities.

You will work with leading global organisations across industries such as banking & finance, insurance, government, telco, media, and FMCG.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver cloud-based data engineering solutions for blue-chip clients.
  • Provide technical direction, thought leadership, and best practices in data engineering.
  • Work directly with stakeholders in pre-sales, requirements gathering, and solution design.
  • Mentor and support team members, with the potential to grow into a leadership role.
  • Drive delivery excellence across a variety of industries and client engagements.

What you’ll need

  • Must have an Irish or UK passport.
  • 5–7+ years’ experience across data engineering, cloud computing, or data warehousing.
  • Strong technical expertise in one or more: Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong experience in data modelling, ETL processes, and SQL.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with consulting mindset.
  • For senior engineer roles, ability to step up into leadership roles in the future is required.
  • For lead engineer roles, prior leadership experience is required.

Highly desirable:

  • Prior consulting experience.
  • Data solution design & architecture experience.
  • Familiarity with dbt, Fivetran, Matillion.
  • Programming experience (Python, Java, Scala).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., SnowPro).
