Data Modeler – Property Casualty Specialty Insurance

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with 10+ years of hands-on experience in designing both logical and physical data models for Property Casualty Specialty Insurance data projects.


Working Arrangement: Hybrid Model

This role will involve a flexible hybrid approach, blending:

  • Company offices
  • Client sites
  • Home working (though not 100% remote)

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain logical and physical data models to support business requirements, ensuring data integrity across insurance domains
  • Align models with Databricks medallion architecture, translating needs from underwriting, delegated authority, reinsurance, actuarial, claims, and finance into structured models
  • Implement and maintain data governance standards, including naming conventions, metadata, and documentation, collaborating with data analysts, data engineers, and data associates
  • Review existing models and propose simplification, standardisation, and improvements for current and future projects
  • Lead the evolution of requirements, refining and translating them into actionable data models for development teams
  • Ensure models accurately reflect insurance processes and data elements before handover to engineering

Requirements & Experience

  • 10+ years delivering data models for Property Casualty (PC) Specialty Insurance projects, with exposure to Lloyd’s London Market data structures
  • In-depth understanding of insurance domain concepts, proficiency in data modelling tools (preferably Erwin)
  • Expertise in enterprise data modelling, including:
    • Conceptual, logical, and physical models
    • Transactional data domains
    • Experience with dimensional, Star, Snowflake, Data Vault, and 3NF methodologies
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and pipeline design is advantageous
  • Understanding of system development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile software development
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to engage with senior leaders, stakeholders, and technical teams
  • Flexibility, curiosity, and creative problem-solving mindset
