Senior Data Scientist & AI Solutions Owner

Role Overview
At Netcompany, we nurture technical ownership and empower employees to innovate within a flexible and agile environment. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Data Scientist, who can drive sophisticated AI and data science initiatives across sectors, maximising their strategic and operational impact on businesses and organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Solution Ownership
- Lead the technical solution lifecycle for data science and AI projects, from identifying requirements and defining approaches to full implementation support.
- Advanced Modelling & Analysis
- Apply cutting-edge data science and machine learning techniques to tackle complex business challenges and unlock value.
- Production & MLOps
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable, robust, and production-ready ML models. Develop and implement MLOps pipelines to streamline operational workflows.
- Strategic Impact
- Contribute to shaping the direction of data science and AI initiatives, identifying innovative opportunities and establishing industry-leading best practices.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to refine business needs and translate them into technical solutions. Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clear and compelling communication.
- Ethical AI & Governance
- Champion ethical standards in AI/ML implementation, ensuring responsible and compliant application across projects.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing
- Guide and mentor junior data scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative learning.
- Research & Innovation
- Stay at the forefront of emerging machine learning algorithms, statistical techniques, and AI technologies, driving continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
Required:
-
Proficiency in programming with languages such as Python, R, SQL, and C#.

Experience with machine learning frameworks: scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.

Strong implementation knowledge of algorithms and methods:
- Regression, decision trees, Random Forest, XGBoost
- K-means clustering, anomaly detection
- Bayesian theory, time-series forecasting.

Understanding of evaluation techniques: overfitting prevention, bias mitigation, feature selection, cross-validation.

Hands-on experience with model explanation methods such as LIME, SHAP.

Experience working with distributed processing (Hadoop, Spark, Hive), and big data technologies.

Skills with data visualisation tools such as Tableau and Power BI.

Proven capability to work with large and dynamic datasets.
Sector-Specific Skills
- Deep comprehension of public sector challenges, opportunities, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in managing sensitive or regulated public sector datasets.
- Familiarity with public sector legislation and governance standards.
Personal Competencies
- Must be eligible for security clearance.
- Outstanding analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Expressive communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate and articulate complex concepts effectively.
- Autonomous problem-solver with a collaborative team mindset.
- Unwavering commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and mastery of emerging technologies.
