About the Role

We are the Flutter UK & Ireland Trading Team – we power performance, think differently, and drive phenomenal customer experiences to keep Paddy Power, Betfair, and Sky Betting & Gaming brands at number one.

This Lead Data Scientist role is based within the pricing function, a high-performing team responsible for delivering new pricing strategies across Flutter UKI brands.


Responsibilities

As a Lead Data Scientist in the Pricing team, you will:

  • Explore and mobilise new data science applications for pricing, including:
    • Development of pricing models that leverage predictive capabilities to advise pricing strategy decisions.
    • Deployment of advanced statistical analysis and data manipulation techniques to analyse experimentation data, identify trends, and derive relevant conclusions.
  • Coordinate the setup and definition of experiments, deploying statistical techniques and processes to ensure robust trial outputs with actionable insights.
  • Build autonomous systems to monitor high volumes of price experiments and strategies, tracking:
    • Critical metrics vs. expectations.
    • Surfacing insights for the wider pricing team.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of experimental builds, methodologies, and results to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of findings to stakeholders, clearly communicating the implications of pricing experiments on business strategies.
  • Collaborate proactively across cross-functional teams (commercial, finance, product development) to align data insights with business objectives.
  • Lead senior data scientists, coordinating their work areas, managing workloads, and fostering career growth.

Requirements

We’re looking for:

  • Experienced data science leader with a track record leading a data science function, ideally within a customer-focused or commercial domain.
  • Proficient in multiple advanced analytics and data manipulation tools, including:
    • Python
    • SQL
    • Excel
    • Tableau
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Experience in:
    • Experiment design and parameter definition (sampling, control vs. test groups, front-end product changes).
    • Sophisticated statistical modelling techniques, such as:
      • Regression
      • Hypothesis testing
      • Clustering
      • A/B testing
      • Time-series analysis
  • Elastic documentation skills, with attention to detail and the ability to build clear, concise reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, proactive mindset, and a focus on opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple data and analytics assets simultaneously, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and own projects end-to-end.
  • Collaborative outlook—build strong relationships within the Pricing team and across the broader organisation.
  • Ideal (but not required) experience in pricing or pricing strategy projects within a large business setting.
