Lead Data Scientist

Location: London (hybrid, 1 day in office every 2 weeks) Salary: £70,000–£90,000


About the Company

They are a London-based advertising technology business specialising in advertising and media analytics, supporting agencies in understanding and optimising campaign performance. Since launching recently, they have grown into a collaborative team of around 50, combining expertise across:

  • Data science
  • Engineering
  • Digital media

Their SaaS platform integrates with major advertising ecosystems, leveraging large-scale datasets to drive smarter decision-making for clients.


About the Role

The Lead Data Scientist will be the technical authority for data science, shaping advanced machine learning solutions with direct impact on digital campaign performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of optimisation and predictive models for digital advertising campaigns
  • Design and refine bidding algorithms within auction-based environments
  • Build prototypes in Python
  • Partner with engineering to productionise models in Kotlin within AWS
  • Work with large-scale datasets from advertising platforms and external data sources
  • Act as the subject matter expert for data science, supporting:
    • Model improvement
    • Troubleshooting
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Data engineering teams
    • Product teams
    • To deliver scalable solutions
  • Translate complex data outputs into clear insights for stakeholders

Requirements & Skills

Essential Experience

  • Strong commercial experience developing machine learning and statistical models
  • Proven ability to take models from prototype through to production environments
  • High proficiency in Python and experience with:
    • Machine learning frameworks
  • Comfortable working with:
    • Large, complex datasets
    • Feature engineering techniques
  • Understanding of:
    • Auction-based modelling
    • Pricing optimisation or bidding systems
  • Exposure to production environments and a willingness to work with Kotlin
