About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Scientist for an established UK organization on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This pivotal role offers an exceptional opportunity for a technically proficient data science expert who thrives in leadership positions while remaining actively engaged in advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the organization’s data strategy, delivering innovative analytical solutions, and generating measurable commercial value through data-driven insights.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data science, with proven leadership capabilities and a passion for leveraging data to solve complex business challenges. Key qualifications include:

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and R or similar analytical languages.
  • Strong background in machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms such as Databricks or equivalent.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools including Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, data lakes, and enterprise data warehouses.
  • Previous leadership experience in managing and developing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Data Scientists and Analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Design and deliver advanced analytics, predictive models, and machine learning solutions to address complex business issues.
  • Identify new opportunities where artificial intelligence and data science can drive measurable improvements and efficiencies.
  • Translate business needs into scalable and actionable analytical solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Business Intelligence teams to deploy, monitor, and maintain production-ready models.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and best practices within data science and AI to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Communicate analytical findings and strategic recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across analytical capabilities, governance, and project delivery processes.
