Lead Data Scientist | Python | Forecasting | Advanced Analytics | Bristol Hybrid | £65,000 - £75,000 + 10% Bonus + Benefits

Peaple Talent have partnered with an enterprise organisation to hire a Lead Data Scientist to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week onsite in Bristol.

The role sits in a highly visible Data & Insight team, working directly with senior stakeholders and exec-level teams to deliver forecasting, analytics and insight that supports key business decisions across commercial, sales, marketing and operations.

The big focus here is Python-based data science, forecasting and strong statistical fundamentals. They need someone who is confident getting hands-on technically, but also able to turn analysis into clear, reliable insight for senior non-technical audiences.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Databricks would be a strong bonus, as this is part of their current stack, but experience with similar cloud data platforms such as Snowflake would also be relevant. Tableau or Power BI experience would be useful too, although visualisation is not the main focus.

They’re also starting to explore more modern AI and LLM-led reporting capability through Databricks Genie, so any experience around LLMs, agentic AI or AI-assisted insight would be a nice extra rather than a must-have.

Salary up to £75,000 plus benefits, 2 days per week onsite in Central Bristol.
