What We Do

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people can rely on clean drinking water and wastewater services every day. We look after communities, protect the environment and invest in the future of Yorkshire's water infrastructure. Our Engineering Design Team sits at the heart of our capital programme, delivering technical leadership across water, wastewater, bioresources, networks, nature-based solutions and major infrastructure projects. We are building a Design Authority and Engineering Centre of Excellence that will set the standard for how Yorkshire Water designs and delivers infrastructure.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting a number of Lead Design Engineers and are keen to hear from experienced professionals across multiple engineering disciplines, including:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA)
  • Process Engineering (Clean Water)
  • Process Engineering (Wastewater)
  • Process Engineering (Bioresources)

Rather than recruiting discipline-specific vacancies, we're seeking talented engineers who can bring specialist expertise whilst working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable and innovative engineering solutions across Yorkshire Water's AMP8 investment programme. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of water infrastructure, influence engineering standards and contribute to the continued development of our Engineering Centre of Excellence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
