Salary: £41,666 - £51,506 Job Type: Permanent Working Pattern: 35 hours per week, Monday-Thursday in Head Office (Lancaster), with Fridays for flexible work from home
About the Role
We’re seeking a Lead Developer and DevOps Engineer to drive innovation and shape the future of our software. This senior hands-on role blends technical leadership, full-stack development, and DevOps expertise, offering the opportunity to influence our technical strategy.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and mentor a team of developers
- Define architectural direction and enforce best practices in development and delivery
- Make key technical decisions shaping secure, scalable, and high-performance systems
- Design and deliver robust web applications and optimise data architecture
- Drive cloud infrastructure, automation, and deployment improvements using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable technical solutions, supporting agile delivery
Ideal candidates possess strong leadership, communication skills, and a passion for driving high-impact innovation in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Set strategic direction, mentor team members, and ensure alignment with business goals
- Full-Stack Engineering: Lead development of complex, scalable applications with expertise in Angular Framework
- DevOps & Cloud: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and AKS environments for efficient deployment
- Database Architecture: Optimise systems for performance, scalability, and reliability
- Collaboration & Execution: Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions

Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Experience in a similar senior technical leadership role in an Agile environment
- Proven ability to make informed technical decisions around architecture and strategy
- Full-stack development expertise, with significant Angular Framework experience
- Experience with database design for performance and scalability
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud platforms
- Proficiency in container orchestration using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Bonus:
- Familiarity with the Rust programming language
Location & Flexibility
Based at our Lancaster Head Office (Monday-Thursday, with flexible work from home Fridays). We consider other flexible working arrangements.
