Lead Developer - Assessment Reform - GCSE Geography

Lead Developers - Assessment Reform - GCSE Geography

Closing date: 12 July 2026, 23:00

Do you want to shape future GCSE Geography specifications?

Every educator brings a unique perspective, and AQA values these insights—especially when designing qualifications that benefit all learners.

We’re seeking educators with classroom experience to turn their expertise into national impact. As the UK’s leading provider of GCSE and A level qualifications, and an education charity, we’re committed to helping learners from all backgrounds reach their potential.

We’re now recruiting Lead Developers for our reformed specifications. These flexible, mostly remote positions require educators willing to contribute actively to specification development.

What You’ll Do

The role involves shaping a new GCSE Geography assessment framework while balancing a strong understanding of classroom contexts and improving accessibility for learners.

You will:

  • Collaboration on curriculum alignment, ensuring the specification adheres to AQA’s assessment design principles and regulatory frameworks.
  • Overseeing the development of assessment strategies for universities and progression pathways.
  • Reviewing research insights and providing expert feedback to assessors and planners.
  • Working with subject matter experts to create board question papers, mark schemes and item commentaries.
  • Supporting pilot testing and evaluation of sample assessment materials (SAMs) to ensure they meet teacher and pupil needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
