Lead Developer - Assessment Reform - GCSE Maths

Lead Developers – Assessment Reform: GCSE Maths

Job Description

Closing date: 12 July 2026, 23:00

About the Role

Do you want to play a hands-on role in shaping future GCSE specifications?

Every educator brings a unique perspective—and those perspectives matter when it comes to creating qualifications that work for all learners.

AQA is seeking educators who want to turn their classroom experience into national impact.

This role supports the **reformedAQA Maths GCSE specification. These positions are flexible, and the majority of work will be remote.

Responsibilities

You’ll contribute to the full assessment development process, ensuring alignment with curriculum requirements and best practice in assessment design. Key duties include:

  • Developing the specification in line with AQA’s assessment design principles and regulatory frameworks, informed by centre delivery contexts and learner diversity considerations.
  • Shaping assessment strategies and guiding broader assessment design approaches.
  • Reviewing research and analytical outputs to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborating with MQA teams to create and refine assessment materials, including:
    • Question papers and model answers
    • Mark schemes and item commentaries
  • Supporting market testing and evaluation of assessment materials, including Sample Assessment Materials (SAMs) and other customer support offers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
