My client seeks a hands-on Lead Developer to take technical ownership of real-time and historical data platforms supporting Portfolio Managers, Traders and Quant teams.
The role combines architecture, technical leadership and hands-on development. You will lead the design of scalable data services, integrate market-data and time-series platforms, and establish engineering standards across performance, resilience, data quality and observability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of real-time and historical investment data platforms.
- Build scalable services supporting market data, trading, portfolio and analytics workflows.
- Integrate platforms such as OneTick and market-data providers including Bloomberg and Refinitiv.
- Design schemas, partitioning strategies and data lifecycle models for large-scale intraday and historical datasets.
- Optimise query performance and data-access patterns for front-office users.
- Work closely with architects, engineers and business stakeholders to make pragmatic technical decisions.
- Remain hands-on in the design and development of critical platform components.
- Own production stability, monitoring, alerting and incident management during trading hours.
- Identify performance bottlenecks, scalability risks and operational weaknesses.
- Review code and designs and mentor engineers across the team.

Required Experience
- Strong experience building real-time data platforms within investment management or financial markets.
- Hands-on development expertise in Java and Python.
- Experience building scalable services on AWS.
- Strong knowledge of real-time streaming and messaging technologies.
- Experience with OneTick, time-series databases or similar analytical platforms.
- A deep understanding of financial time-series data, including high volumes, bursty data, corrections and late-arriving data.
- Experience designing scalable schemas and query models for intraday and historical analytics.
- Strong understanding of market data, orders, executions, positions, portfolios and pricing.
- Experience balancing latency, storage efficiency and analytical flexibility.
- Familiarity with vendor data ecosystems such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv or MarketAxess.
- Experience delivering systems used directly by Portfolio Managers, Traders and Quant teams.
- Proven technical leadership, architecture and mentoring experience.
