Lead Driller
We are seeking a Lead Driller to support environmental and geotechnical site investigations. This is a hands-on outdoor role involving drilling operations, sample collection, site monitoring, equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Investigation & Field Operations
- Prepare, organize, and pack equipment required for daily site work.
- Assist with the operation of a tracked windowless sampling drilling rig, initially as an Assistant Driller, with progression opportunities to Lead Driller.
- Operate and assist with mini excavators, breakers, and other site equipment.
- Collect soil samples for laboratory testing and analysis.
- Conduct groundwater and ground gas monitoring activities.
- Accurately record field data, including borehole logs, site notes, and site investigation photographs.

Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
- Clean, inspect, and maintain drilling rigs and associated equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain and organize storage units, including inventory of equipment and materials.
- Keep company vehicles clean, well maintained, and in good working order.
Health & Safety
- Follow all site health and safety procedures.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience supporting environmental, geotechnical, or ground investigation projects is preferred but not essential.
- Experience operating drilling rigs, excavators, or other construction equipment would be advantageous.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid driver's licence, as the role requires regular operation of company vehicles.
- Ability to maintain accurate field records and documentation.
- Physically fit and able to undertake demanding outdoor fieldwork, including handling equipment and working in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working outdoors and travelling to different site locations.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight away from home when required.
