Job Description

Are you an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing engineering decisions, and mentoring others while remaining hands-on with code?

Do you thrive in agile environments, embrace modern engineering practices, and want to work on projects that genuinely make a difference?

If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're partnering with a growing, mission-led technology consultancy delivering secure, scalable software solutions for the UK Government and Defence sector. Their teams build modern digital platforms and mission-critical systems that support some of the UK's most important national programmes.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative engineering team where your technical expertise, leadership, and ideas will directly influence the success of high-impact projects.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering secure, cloud-native applications while providing technical leadership across the software development lifecycle.

You'll collaborate with architects, product owners, DevOps engineers, and clients to deliver innovative solutions using modern engineering practices.

This role offers the perfect balance of hands-on software engineering, technical ownership, and mentoring.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable software solutions.
  • Lead the design and implementation of modern APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications.
  • Build robust, high-quality software using clean architecture and engineering best practices.
  • Develop and deploy applications across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines, containers, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps tooling to automate delivery.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical strategy.
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver secure, user-focused solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering standards, tooling, and delivery processes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
