Job Description

📍 Location: Warrington

📝 Type: Permanent / Contract

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to:
    • Identify the feasibility of the approach
    • Develop an outline requirement specification
    • Identify the TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
    • Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraise and select phase of the project. Deliver to the agreed time, cost, and quality
    • Lead the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting, and the production of the agreed design deliverables
    • Manage the DSA teams in production of deliverables
    • Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation
    • Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule
    • Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
    • Interface and engage with Site clients and stakeholders

Essential Experience

  • Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel
  • Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge
  • Recent experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is key
  • Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered):
    • Health & Safety at Work Act
    • The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
    • Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation
    • Identification of Technological Readiness Levels and development of technology development plans

Qualifications

  • Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or Equivalent) subject
  • Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership

Additional Information

  • Ability to obtain SC Clearance
  • Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
