Fixed Term Full-Time Lead Educator – Holt Early Learning Centre
We are seeking a motivated Fixed Term Full-Time Lead Educator to be part of our Holt Early Learning Centre, a place where you're not just another staff member, but a valued member of a family! If you’re ready to make a real difference in the lives of children, and grow alongside a team that celebrates learning, creativity, and community, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
About The Centre
At Holt Early Learning Centre, we believe every child is a capable and curious learner. Our beautifully designed open-plan environment, filled with natural light and thoughtfully arranged spaces, invites children to explore, create, and connect in a warm and welcoming setting.
As part of the Y Canberra Region, we’re proud to foster a strong sense of belonging, community, and partnership with families.
Every day at YMCA Holt is an opportunity to explore, discover, and grow. We invite you to visit and experience the difference of a centre where your child is truly seen, heard, and valued.
We follow a Reggio Emilia-inspired, inquiry-based approach to early learning. Our program encourages children to dive into Units of Inquiry—projects based on their interests—guided by passionate educators who observe, listen, and collaborate.
The Role
As a Lead Educator, you will play a key role in nurturing and guiding young learners while contributing to the overall vision of our centre. You will collaborate closely with your team, children, and families, working in a supportive and mentoring environment that promotes growth and professional development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
