Base Location: Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, or Inverness. You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of these locations.

Salary: £65,000 - £75,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

At SSEN Distribution, our team of Engineers plays a vital role in the successful delivery of CapEx and connections projects valued over £2.5M across the Large Capital Delivery (LCD) portfolio.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead our onshore engineering team in LCD in Scotland. The team acts as the intelligent client interface between SSEN Distribution and external delivery partners, ensuring network designs are compliant, safe, constructable and aligned with company standards and governance requirements.

Joining SSEN Distribution at an exciting time in the ED2 price control period, you will help to deliver a portfolio of ambitious Net Zero-enabling projects through the upgrade and replacement of our electricity network in Scotland.

You will

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the Design Engineering Assurance team, providing technical leadership and support across capital delivery and customer connection projects.
  • Coordinate the review and assurance of externally delivered designs to ensure compliance with SSEN Distribution standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with contractor delivery partners to provide technical guidance and resolve engineering, constructability, and delivery issues throughout project development.
  • Collaborate with Design Authority, project management, operations and delivery teams to manage engineering risks and support efficient project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering assurance processes, contractor interfaces and team performance.

You have

  • A qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, preferably degree qualified, with or working towards a relevant professional qualification.
  • Extensive experience within electricity distribution networks, including overhead line, underground cable and substation projects up to at least 33kV.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, technical governance, design assurance and CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, coordinating or assuring engineering designs ideally in a regulated infrastructure environment.
  • Proven leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and develop high-performing teams.
