Lead Electronics Manager

About the Role
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Why this role exists: Expansion due to new electronics initiatives and developments
Location: On-site in Frimley, with key responsibilities based at Delta-Mobrey, Camberley
Contract: Permanent
The Lead Electronics Engineer will oversee and drive the Electronics Engineering function at Delta-Mobrey (part of Emerson), delivering both technical leadership and hands-on design expertise. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this role is critical for advancing electronic system development, embedded software, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities

Technical leadership and innovation
- Oversee the design, development, and optimisation of analogue and digital electronic systems
- Lead project delivery from conceptual stage to final deployment, ensuring adherence to technical and business requirements

Hardware design and integration
- Specify, develop, and refine PCB and circuit designs for application-specific requirements
- Work with component obsolescence strategies and manage lifecycle requirements for existing and new designs

Embedded software and development
- Program and test embedded software (primarily in C), ensuring robustness and performance
- Collaborate with embedded systems teams to align hardware and software design

Technical problem-solving
- Investigate and resolve technical challenges in real-time; identify and implement cost-effective solutions
- Apply in-depth knowledge of ultrasonic technologies, sensors, and signal processing in instrumentation applications

Leadership and mentorship
- Guide junior engineers, sharing best practices in PCB design, schematics, and innovation
- Develop and prosecute product-specific roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business and technical objectives
- Drive continuous improvement in design methodologies and resource allocation
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualification: Postgraduate (MSc or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Field specialisation: 5–10 years’ post-qualification experience in electronics design, with expertise in:
- Producing testable, manufacturable designs for complex, mission-critical systems
- Hardware design, troubleshooting, and prototyping within a regulated environment
- Industry exposure: Proven experience from sectors such as:
- Defence, Aerospace, Medical, Industrial, or Automotive
- Instrumentation and measurement technologies

Key Skills & Attributes
Must-haves: ✔ Strong hardware and firmware skills, with experience in C programming ✔ Hands-on experience with PCB design (sвизилен Bezier, compliance, footprints, stack-up) using industry standard tools ✔ Ability to review SW surveys and integrate hardware best practices in test plans ✔ Watertight project management and execution – certain of delivery timelines and budgets ✔ Engineering translation skills – clearly define requirements for manufacturing, test, and procedural systems
Preferred but not essential* requiring*: ✔ Team-leadership or mentoring experience at junior engineer level ✔ Proficiency with Alttum for schematic/game/assembly/prototype work ✔ Exposure to safety-critical sensing and industrial metrology ✔ VBA or LabView programming for customisation of test/validation tools
Ideal Candidate Profile
A technical leader specialising in embedded electronics for instrumentation, with both hardware and software acumen and the ability to work independently across complex systems. Ideal candidate:
- Background in system design, engineering leadership, or skilled consultancy
- Proven track record delivering for high-volume, regulated markets
- Experience in ** глобal, multifunctional teams** that align hardware engineering with broader company goals
Need to show innovation in solving problems, whether it be:
- New ways of approaching PCB layout that reduce manufacturing errors
- Better refinement of prototyping in constrained environments
- Strategic methodology mapping for early-stage R&D (e.g. use of finite element analysis)
