Lead Embedded Software Development & Integration Engineer (ADAS / Connected Vehicles)
We’re now recruiting for a Lead Embedded Software Development & Integration Engineer (ADAS / Connected Vehicles) to join JLR at a pivotal time of transformation. This is an opportunity to be right at the centre of how next generation vehicles are brought to life, working on cutting edge software that underpins intelligent, connected and automated driving experiences. You’ll play a leading role in shaping how advanced features are delivered into the vehicle, contributing to products that define modern luxury and innovation.
Operating within the Assisted and Automated Driving domain, this role sits at the intersection of software, systems and real-world vehicle behaviour. You’ll collaborate with global engineering teams and technology partners to integrate complex ADAS features at vehicle level, ensuring everything works seamlessly, safely and as intended in real driving conditions. It’s a hands-on, technically rich environment where problem solving, integration expertise and a deep understanding of vehicle systems come to the fore.
This is a role for someone who enjoys seeing their work come to life, from software development and integration through to testing and validation on physical vehicles. You will be instrumental in ensuring that features are not only delivered, but delivered well, balancing quality, performance and customer experience. If you’re passionate about automotive technology and want to work at the sharp end of innovation, this is a brilliant opportunity to make a real impact.
What To Expect
As part of the team, you’ll be involved in a number of core activities that contribute to the success of the department, such as –
- Take ownership of software development, integration, debugging, and issue resolution within a complex automotive engineering environment
- Support software bring-up and validation on rigs, benches, HiL environments, and vehicles
- Work closely with software, systems, integration, validation, feature, supplier, and vehicle test teams to deliver robust software into programmes
- Lead root-cause analysis for software and integration issues, using logs, traces, diagnostics, and vehicle network data
- Support software release activities, integration readiness reviews, defect triage, and technical decision-making
- Contribute to improving integration processes, debugging methods, automation, and software quality practices
- Operate in a fast-paced delivery environment where hands-on technical problem solving and cross-functional coordination are equally important

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
